Where We Work
We have had an impact on thousands of lives in over nine countries around the world.
Despite an abundance of natural resources in many developing countries, a very high percentage of the population live below the poverty line. Many children are unable to attend school, particularly in rural areas – unemployment follows, and a lack of entrepreneurial infrastructure means that small farmers and labourers can make no progress. Ecological issues are rising to the forefront, with continuous access to drinking water being a huge challenge as global warming persists.
Through participation with TRT, so many skills are developed that reach far beyond the rugby pitch, and this is our key to sustainability. By taking a holistic approach – encouraging local ownership, and extending our teaching skills to others – local coaches and volunteers now run Tag Rugby centres in nine countries worldwide.
Parallel to this, young people trained through the programme in the UK often represent TRT by coaching and mentoring local children in deprived UK communities.
Since the resumption of activities post-Covid lockdown, TRT now focusses its work and resources on our programmes in Zimbabwe. But the flags below allow you to see what we have done in other countries in the past.
