One of Tag Rugby’s own pioneer coaches, Rosenburg Kanyunyuzi, on Saturday put aside other duties to fine tune the Makerere Tag Rugby junior academy class as well as senior Tag to tackle team to steer the energetic youngsters into a blending of tag to tackle drills tailored with mini Twickenham Rugby.

The coach who twice travelled with Uganda U-14 Tag Rugby graduate players for Twickenham games has in the years been selected to handle similar projects in Swaziland,South Africa and London early this year. Her first invite to Makerere was during the Holiday inter club tournament at Kyadondo when the Makerere Wasps requested for her special hand enough to groom them for national selection.

The Junior Academy class for her was so eye catching, a leaf she said other training centers should emulate to tap early interest in the sport. “I have trained tag rugby youngsters at Kyadondo, Kampala, upcountry and abroad since 2006 but this one is just exceptional and so amazing, my earlier request was for just a training session but lam available every weekend to coach these very promising future Rugby Cranes” Rosenburg revealed.

A mini Rugby tournament ensured in which top players and outstanding Young Leaders spotted by Rosenburg were rewarded London Tour T-shirts for this year as Impis Rugby club chairman Sam Wareh also splashed clothes, trainers and boots donated by senior Rugby Impis club members to all the 62 kids in attendance on Saturday. The club chairman also reminded the kids that the club will always reward top players and youngleaders involved in coaching, club ground cleaning and ensuring good use of club equipment.
