Regina gets better and better
on Jun 03 in News, Uganda tagged News, regina, rugby, tag rugby trust, Uganda by RuckinRugbySome of you may remember Regina … she has featured on our updates in the past. She is a young promising player in Uganda that started playing rugby through our Tours back in 2005. She is now about to turn 18 and we received this update from Helen Buteme on her (and other grown up Tag girls in Kampala).
“…Regina received the TRDT jacket and it’s a great fit. She was called up to the 15 aside national team training squad but she was dropped from the final 22 for our game against Kenya last weekend – not because she isn’t good enough but because she’s pint sized and not yet 18 (she turns 18 in October this year though). Currently, there’s no scrumhalf in Uganda as good as her. We travel to Kenya next weekend and I think she stands a good chance of making it onto the final 22 because she has been included on the training squad again. I hope she gets on, she really deserves it.”
I’m the coach of the under 19 girls national team now. We’ll be travelling to Kenya in 3 weeks time to take part in the Safari 7s competition. This is the first age grade girls rugby has been included. I’ve got lots of tag rugby graduates whom I’m now teaching contact rugby. They’re coming on great.”
