Green Hill Ruggers dominate School Tag Rugby Tournament

Green Hill Academy located in central Kampala took a week off for a tag rugby school inter colour Tournament in which six colours Yellow,Orange,Green,Purple,Blue and Red got involved. The International school is part of the 24 participants we had in the Kampala Grand festival that was edged in the semi knock out stage in June. Orange team thumped Yellow 6-2 with Green squeezing purple 6-5 while Blue beat Red 6-3. In the semi final stage Orange pushed out Blue with a 4-3 score while Green gave purple a hand off with 4-2.

In the final game handled by tag rugby trust’s referee Peter Ochol the kids displayed talent and skill when top contenders Orange and Green fought tooth and nail to claim the crown. Orange’s top scorer George Magala with 7 trys revealed to tag rugby media that following their participation in last months grand tournament it has boosted their confidence enabling them treat their colleagues to great exposure. Team Green’s Kigozi Farid alongside Riyad Kasule, Enock Kauma, Faith Kirabo and Humprey Olaunah all scored for thier teams.

Tag Rugby has become an in house name for many primary schools in Kampala stretching as far as enlisting it as a sport in their school sports curriculum calendar. Bananule who won the Kampala grand tournament have tag rugby every year as part of the sports day competitive games. In Eastern Uganda Busita primary school which is Tag’s birth place displayed wonderful skills that involved side steps and beautiful runs sweeping the plate final in the just concluded 2010 annual Uganda tour. The photo graphs are for only team Green and Orange that made the finals. The coaches inset with the kids are School sports teacher James Kisame and Philip Latigo a tag Rugby coach assigned to that school.
