The Entebbe Teachers Tag Rugby Association is set to host the first ever Wakiso District Rwenzori Tag Rugby Festival this Friday at Entebbe Mongers Rugby Club. Entebbe will be hosting this Festival for the first time with the support of Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water ready to quench players thirst through out the event.
The first edition of the Entebbe Tag Rugby tournament has registered eight participating schools Sacred Heart Bugonga, Lake Victoria, St.Agnes, St.Theresa, Namate Chadwick, Kiwafu Moslem, St.Joseph Katabi and Entebbe Junior primary schools from Entebbe Grade A.
Entebbe has not held a Tag Rugby Tournament of its own before, but having landed invites in 2007 and 2008 to feature in the Kampala grand tournaments ushered in the desire to hold District events following the formation of the teachers committee early this year.
The devoted team have vowed to groom Rugby Cranes players from Wakiso District at grass root level and are grateful to sponsors Rwenzori,Entebbe Mongers Rugby club and Particpating schools Head teachers for the timely intervention on short notice. The tournament Kicks off 10am on Friday 21st October at the Fisheries Training Institute Ground.
Entebbe Mongers Rugby club manager Oscar Olaro said ” Sports in Entebbe area is growing every other year, and with the watchful intervention and support of stakeholders the Tag Rugby Trust’s operation in the District will help boost player numbers at the fast developing Rugby club. It is important for us to support kids tournaments to keep the interest up from grass root levels” he explained.
The Entebbe Tag Rugby super volunteer Ivan Alinaitwe who is pushing forward TRT’s targets for fun and continuity of the game of Rugby for both Boys and Girls is also organising a lethal Entebbe Mongers girls team that will compete favourably for places at national level. Ivan also groomed She-Cranes current youngest player and MVP 2010 Regina Athieno as a Tag Rugby player in Naguru Katali Primary school afew years back.
“There is alot of potential talent in Entebbe reason to why l chose to move here to help the Tag Rugby office mould players in Wakiso District starting with Entebbe. In our campaign the biggest challenge is kit and we welcome sponsors to join in as the family expands” Ivan verified.

Oct 23rd, 2011I had never watched TR before, and was thrilled to see those kids at the Ebb Fisheries sports ground with so much energy !
My disappointment was … no parents attended.
Was it because it was a Friday ? or lack of interest in the kids` sports activities ?
Claude.

Nov 4th, 2011It was simply great, it reminded me of my childhood in Entebbe when all schools competed in an annual sports gala over 3days for tack and field and over weeks for soccer and netball.
I believe we need to excite the parents and well wishers as well. Sports instills discipline and a sense of hope in young people.
Bro. Claude, i recall you at Kisubi boys, your love for sports in children is legendary and we are greatful.
TRT, we hope for more and Entebbe is ready to host you for a bigger and better event!
Cheers
